School Clinic Doctor (Primary, Middle and High School)
Position Title: School Clinic Doctor
Location: American International School in Egypt - Main Campus Department: Operations Department
Reports to: Head of Operations
Position Overview:
The School Clinic Doctor is responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare services to students from Primary, Middle, and High School. This includes diagnosing and treating illnesses, managing chronic conditions, promoting health and wellness, and ensuring readiness to respond effectively to emergencies. The School Clinic Doctor is expected to act swiftly and decisively in critical health situations, ensuring student safety and minimizing potential risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Care & Medical Services:
- Provide diagnosis and treatment for common illnesses and injuries among students.
- Conduct health assessments, routine check-ups, and preventive screenings.
- Administer first aid and emergency care when necessary, including coordinating emergency services.
- Maintain accurate medical records for all students, including immunization records, allergies, and ongoing treatments.
- Manage chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, ensuring students’ health needs are met during school hours.
- Administer vaccinations as required by local health authorities.
- Emergency Preparedness and Response:
- Act as the primary responder in cases of medical emergencies, ensuring rapid and efficient care for students, staff, and visitors.
- Develop, maintain, and regularly review emergency response protocols, including first aid, CPR, and evacuation plans in case of medical crises.
- Collaborate with emergency medical services (EMS), ensuring swift transfer of students requiring hospitalization or advanced care.
- Train staff on emergency medical response, including basic first aid, CPR, and how to handle common school emergencies such as allergic reactions, asthma attacks, and injuries.
- Prepare for and manage critical situations such as epidemics or injuries from accidents, sports, or other school-related activities.
- Ensure the clinic is always stocked with emergency medical supplies and equipment, including defibrillators, oxygen, and first-aid kits.
- Health Education & Wellness Promotion:
- Collaborate with school staff to design and implement health education programs for students, promoting healthy habits, hygiene, and mental health awareness.
- Advise students, staff, and parents on topics such as nutrition, exercise, sexual health, and mental well-being.
- Participate in workshops and seminars aimed at enhancing health literacy across the school community.
- Collaboration with School Staff:
- Work closely with the school Principals , Assistant principals , Counselors, Divisions Admins Assistants and other staff to ensure a holistic approach to student well-being.
- Provide guidance to teachers and school staff on medical issues that affect student participation and learning.
- Act as a liaison between parents, external healthcare providers, and the school for the management of students with special health needs.
- Health and Safety Management:
- Ensure the clinic is well-equipped and maintain high standards of hygiene and safety.
- Develop and implement health policies and procedures in line with national or regional health regulations.
- Monitor and manage health outbreaks, such as infectious diseases, in collaboration with public health authorities.
- Create and update emergency response plans related to health crises, accidents, or epidemics within the school.
Qualifications:
- Education: Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited university .
- Licensure: Valid medical license to practice in Egypt. Certification in pediatric or family medicine is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience, with a focus on pediatric care or adolescent health being a plus.
Skills:
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle emergencies swiftly and effectively.
- Familiarity with school health regulations and protocols is an advantage.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time/Part-time position (as per school policy).
- Work hours follow the school schedule but may require occasional availability for after-school events or emergencies.
Additional Requirements:
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Commitment to continuing medical education and professional development.
