Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Teacher Assistant to support our 4th and 5th-grade classrooms. The ideal candidate will be an integral part of our educational team, working closely with lead teachers to foster a positive and effective learning environment. This role requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and a genuine passion for working with children. The Teacher Assistant is a key support person, ensuring the smooth operation of daily classroom activities and school-wide functions.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom & Instructional Support:

  • Collaborate with Teachers: attend a weekly planning meeting, when possible assist in planning, preparing, and implementing daily lessons and activities for 4th and 5th-grade students.
  • Positive Discipline: Utilize positive and respectful discipline strategies to manage student behavior and create a supportive learning environment.

Substitute Teaching:

  • Serve as a substitute teacher for 4th and 5th-grade classes as needed, following provided lesson plans to maintain instructional continuity.

MAP Testing:

  • Help plan, organize, and implement MAP testing as well as download family reports for the primary. 

Daily Duties:

  • Timeliness: Arrive on time to fulfill all assigned duties, including morning and lunch supervision.
  • Supervision: Monitor students during morning arrival, lunch, and other transitional periods to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Field Trips: Attend and supervise field trips as needed
  • Classroom Management: Be available to cover a classroom for a short period so a lead teacher can attend meetings or complete tasks.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with preparing classroom materials, making copies, creating bulletin boards, and other tasks as assigned by teachers or school administration.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and administration.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to adapt to changing needs and priorities.
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to treating all students with kindness and respect.
